Welcome to the
Wiltshire Rose Croix Chapter of Improvement
Our Chapters of Improvement are designed to enable members to develop their ritual, build confidence, familiarity and enjoy learning together in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Whether you are new to the Order, preparing for office, progressing towards the Chair, or simply looking to refresh your knowledge, every Prince is warmly encouraged to attend. There is no pressure to perform perfectly; the aim is simply to learn, improve and enjoy our ritual together.
The Chapter of Improvement will be held quarterly, and the format will be very much based on what members want to cover. It will not be a rigid, one-size-fits-all session. If three members would like to practice opening the Chapter as MWS, then that is what we will do. If others would prefer to work through particular sections of the ceremony, there will be room for that too. The whole point is for the sessions to be useful, practical and enjoyable.
If you are thinking of coming along but are worried that you might be put on the spot, please do not be. This is about practice, not perfection. If you are unfamiliar with a particular office or piece of work, it is perfectly acceptable to read from the book. In fact, doing so is one of the best ways to become more familiar with the ceremony and to gain confidence over time.

The aim of the Chapter of Improvement is simple: to give members a welcoming space to learn, practice and grow together. In particular, it is intended to:
Give members more opportunities to practise Rose Croix ritual in an encouraging environment.
Help everyone become more familiar and comfortable with our ceremonies.
Allow members to work alongside, and learn from, more experienced Brethren and higher-degree members from other Chapters.
Bring members together informally, strengthening friendships and links across the District.
Provide a useful forum for members to try specific parts of the MWS, and other offices, work as they progress towards, into and beyond the Chair, including work that may support their journey towards the 30°.
On Saturday 27th June 2026, the first Wiltshire Rose Croix Chapter of Improvement was held at Calne Masonic Centre — and what a positive start it was.
12 members from across the District came together in a very warm (!), relaxed and friendly setting to practice parts of our Perfection ceremony, support one another, and enjoy the opportunity to build confidence in Rose Croix ritual without the pressure of a formal meeting.
Those attending chose to practice the intermediate degrees (x2) and the second point, and, as will be common practice for all Chapter of Improvement ,the opening and closing.
Great work was done by all, and it was especially pleasing to see how everyone joined in to support and encourage those who undertook the work.
Jeremy Jarvis (31st Degree) said
"The atmosphere was very friendly and relaxed as you might expect and all present were encouraged to have a go at any part of the ceremony they fancied. Being able to read the ritual aloud meant that any Prince could participate without any pressure.
We also raised a few good questions around our ritual and had good discussions to land on a common understanding.
I thought the morning was very worthwhile and enjoyable."
